Online counselling may be an option for you if you are living remotely or perhaps a disability means you are unable to travel and access support. There may be other reasons you are considering this type of counselling which we can discuss in our first meeting.
Not all therapists are trained in offering online-specific counselling.
I am trained to work in this way and I am a member of the
Association for Counselling & Therapy Online.
Online counselling is accessed through video call to one another.
This can be via just audio or with video also.
The mind is like an iceberg, it floats with one-seventh of its bulk above the water.
It is important to bear in mind that online counselling is not suitable for everyone and a careful assessment of your needs and circumstances will be considered.
Not having an 'in-person' meeting can also lead to other misunderstandings as facial cues and body language are not always clear, for some, this is too difficult to manage.
If you are dealing with certain mental health difficulties, a face to face counselling option may be more appropriate.
